Good Friday

Christ on the Cross
Diego Velasquez
Museo del Prado, Madrid (250 x 170 cm, c. 1632)
+

(Greek NT)

Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, "Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing." (New American Standard Bible, Revelation 5:11-12)

In any language, the message is the same. The only way to Easter Sunday is through the cross of Good Friday and the only way to the Father is through the Son. The deed has been done; the debt has been paid. Blessed be His name.

Lisa, apparently we both love NO GOOD IN ART. So far, no one else in bloggerdom lists that as an interest.

I enjoyed reading it to first grade classes but it is so much more fun to read it to the 3 year old grandson who will still snuggle in the rocking chair.

I love Velázquez- especially his painting of the monks. Have you seen Into Great Silence yet? Such a meditative, inspiring movie. Happy Easter weekend.

Thanks for the recommendation, Vanessa. I'm off to check into that movie now. :-).

Happy Easter to you too!
